About Us – A history of the band

About Us – Superdudes was formed in 1999 when the band Greg, John and Glenn were in, Push It Mumma, called it a day after many successful years on the pub circuit.

Superdudes has always been innovative, being one of the first bands in Melbourne to fully embrace digital technology, making extensive use of backing tracks. The band is also unique in that we have never had a bass player – something band agents told us was unmarketable!

One of our first regular gigs was at The Baby Grand in Moonee Ponds. From there we were able to work on our show and repertoire which includes many songs we still perform to this day. We were the first band to play at The Melbourne Aquarium. Over time, we built up to playing three nights a week, including resident gigs at The Matthew Flinders Hotel, The Elephant and Wheelbarrow and Bridie O’Reillys (Chapel St).

As demand for Superdudes to play at corporate functions, private parties and Christmas events increased, we made the decision to move full time into this area and we haven’t looked back.

Some of our highlights include

• Nine years at Flemington Racecourse, playing multiple days during the Melbourne Cup carnival.
• Six years at Albert Park, playing at the Melbourne Grand Prix, plus the staff after party.
• Five new years eve gigs at the Melbourne Aquarium, plus many other performances there.

Weddings is something we also specialise in and we are now one of Melbourne’s best wedding reception bands.
